Health for All: Understanding the Significance of World Health Day

As the World Health Organisation marks its 75th anniversary, alongside its 194 member states, it is making a renewed call for global health equity. Celebrated each year on April 7th, World Health Day is a momentous occasion that aims to raise awareness about pressing global health issues and promote healthy living practices. Each year, the World Health Organisation selects a specific health topic for World Health Day, which helps to focus attention on a particular issue and encourage action to address it. The theme for World Health Day 2023 is “Health for All”, promoting and advocating for greater health equality in a world where inequality remains so prevalent.

What is the purpose of World Health Day?

World Health Day is a critical global observance that reminds us of the importance of prioritising our physical, mental, and social well-being. The day provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and governments to come together and take action to promote healthy living practices, ensure access to quality healthcare, and address pressing global health challenges. By raising awareness about critical health issues and promoting healthy behaviours, World Health Day serves as a catalyst for positive change, inspiring communities to take charge of their health and well-being.

Why is world health day so important?

As we mark World Health Day 2023, it’s important to recognize the significant global health inequalities that continue to exist. These inequalities are often caused by factors such as poverty, discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, and other social determinants of health.

In many parts of the world, people are more likely to suffer from preventable diseases and die prematurely due to these inequalities. For example, in some countries, access to basic healthcare services such as clean water, sanitation, and vaccinations is limited, which creates considerable complications in the ability to stay healthy. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted these inequalities even further, with marginalised communities being hit the hardest. Access to vaccines has also been unequal, with some countries facing greater difficulty in obtaining them.

Wellness at English Tea Shop

Health has been a top priority since the beginning at English Tea Shop. We have always cared for our employees’ health by providing them with company-sponsored medical insurance, and coverages, awareness sessions etc. Now, we look forward to improving this aspect for the future by adapting it as a main pillar in our new initiative ”Prajava wellbeing” which takes a holistic approach to wellbeing. In order to implement this, we have put forth many activities such as tracking the water drinking habits of employees (even hosting competitions, awarding the employee who drinks the most amount of water) on a weekly basis, and with such steps, we hope to do more such as conducting nutritional programs to promote healthy eating, track physical activity etc. to bring a change in employees health overall by inbuilding these small habits. This is to enhance our Prajava’s health and wellbeing!

Our Wellness range offers a collection of teas that are specifically designed to promote health and wellbeing, without sacrificing our signature indulgent flavours. The range includes a variety of blends that are blended with natural herbs and ingredients, each with its own unique health benefits. The ingredients used in the range are carefully selected and blended to support different areas of health, including digestion, sleep, and relaxation. Each tea is made using only the finest organic ingredients, ensuring that every cup is not only delicious but also beneficial for the body. The tea bags used in the range are also eco-friendly, maintaining our unwavering commitment to sustainability. The Wellness range is an excellent choice for those looking to incorporate the health benefits of tea into their daily wellness routine.

Along with our healthy range of teas, we constantly provide everyone with, we also look closely at the health of our employees.  This year we have emphasized much more on the aspect of ”Health for all” at English Tea Shop with the launch of the Prajāva Wellbeing Initiative, which takes a holistic approach towards health and wellbeing throughout our value chain. We believe this will be a beautiful start to improving the health and wellbeing of our employees for the long-term and in creating awareness on the importance of health.

World Health Day is an essential event that draws attention to global health issues and promotes action to address them.
