People behind the brand: Meet Angelo

My name is Angelo, I’m very fortunate to have the exciting role of being the Global Head of Sales at English Tea Shop. I joined English Tea Shop three years ago, but have worked in the tea industry all my life.

Day to day my role is very diverse, I split my time between guiding our brand to growth alongside the senior management team as well as travelling to different markets for sales meetings and spreading the brand awareness to international customers.

One of the ways we drive English Tea Shop forward is through our strategic partnerships which we created both in Sri Lanka and our global markets. Some of our notable partnerships are with Surrey Oval’s Ben Hollioake Learning centre in UK, Soil Association’s Better Care programme and Global Radio’s Make some noise.

I also make sure that I dedicate a vast amount of my time learning more about our unique products, processes and ingredients. This alongside connecting new markets and communities with our brand is what I love about my role the most. The strong relationships and trust we have built with our staff, farmers, suppliers and customers have been the key to the company’s consistent growth year on year.

One of the main reasons why I love working for English Tea Shop is the real and direct impact it has on the local community and environment in Sri Lanka. We work very closely with our farmers according to Creating Shared Value principles to ensure their livelihoods and the environment at large are looked after.

I am also an avid tea drinker, my favourite blend is Lemongrass, Ginger & Citrus. The blend has an exquisite combination of flavours which keeps me feeling refreshed all day – it also does wonders for my voice that gets strained during long days at work. The tantalising taste transports me back to the misty mountains of Sri Lanka where the lemongrass is grown.  Seeing first-hand the hard work that goes into each ingredient I find myself getting immersed whenever I brew a cuppa.

I’ve seen ETS grown massively over the course of the years. We don’t want to stop there, our aim is to be the leading independent organic tea brand spearheading the way in sustainability and I am proud to be a part of it.
